AmFaith (American Faith Academy) is an online K-12 Christian school with a classical curriculum, AI-assisted personalization and a parent-partnership model. Published tuition is about $2,260 a year for K-2 and $3,000 a year for grades 3-12, and its SOAR math and language-arts support starts at $69 a month.
Why the numbers work in this market
Nonpublic online learning programs are an approved LA GATOR category when they are bought through the Odyssey marketplace. At those prices even the standard $5,243 award covers tuition with a real balance left over for tutoring, therapy, testing or a laptop, which is not true of a campus seat anywhere in the metro. Confirm the school is listed as a marketplace provider before you pay; ask us and we will check the current listing.

Who it actually fits here
- Families in Red River, Claiborne, DeSoto or Webster Parish where the nearest approved school is a long drive or already full.
- Families holding a LA GATOR waitlist place who want a low-cost accredited year and a transfer later.
- Military families at Barksdale who expect to move mid-year and do not want a third school transfer on a transcript.
- Churches starting a weekday learning community that need an accredited curriculum from day one rather than writing their own.
Online versus a 30-mile drive
This is the comparison that matters in these six parishes, and it is not the one the brochures make. A family in Coushatta, Haynesville or Grand Cane is often choosing between the single academy within reach, a 30-to-40-minute drive each way into Shreveport or Minden, and an online program at the kitchen table. Run it as a whole-year calculation rather than a tuition comparison: two round trips a day for 180 days is real money and real hours, and a campus seat that uses the entire award leaves nothing for the tutoring a particular child may need more than a classroom. An online core plus funded tutoring and therapy can cost less than the award in total and still leave a balance for a laptop and testing.
The honest argument the other way is that a campus provides supervision, peers and athletics, and an online program asks a parent to be present and organized for thirteen years. Families who make it work here usually pair it with something social: a church co-op, a sports league, a two-day hybrid program. Ask the school how its Louisiana families structure the week before you decide it fits yours.
What to ask an online school
- Are you a registered provider in the Odyssey marketplace right now, and under which category?
- Is the program accredited, and how have your transcripts been received by Louisiana schools when a family transfers back?
- How much live instruction is there per week, and how much is self-paced?
- What does a parent have to supervise daily, by grade level?
- What is included in the quoted tuition and what costs extra?
The home study rule still applies
A student cannot be in LA GATOR while registered as a BESE-approved home study program, and choosing an online school does not change that. See the home-based page for how the two registrations interact and when in the year to change one.
We describe AmFaith here as one option among several because the price point is unusual, not because the school pays for placement. Partner relationships are labeled on this site wherever they exist.
